Washington, DC –– Today, the ERA Coalition/Fund for Women’s Equality media hub, Equal Voices, announces the launch of the premiere episode of the podcast Equality Talks. Together with 290 partner organizations representing over 80 million champions for equality, the program uplifts and amplifies the voices of this movement, especially from communities most affected by systemic oppression and exclusion from mainstream media.

Hosted by nationally acclaimed radio host and Equal Voices manager Elisa Parker, Equality Talks bridges the intersections of equality, justice, and social activism to unify as a collective and change the status quo.

“This podcast provides a voice to this movement of movements for equality, and highlights a team of advocates and leaders who have united to advance the fight for equality for all.” said Parker. “These are the stories of everyday heroes, the advocates who are creating systemic change, told in their own voices.”

Equality Talks focuses on the key facets of equality across all communities, including everything from gender, racial, economic and reproductive justice, to labor, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ rights. Programming for the month of June highlights Generation Ratify speaking about the youth movement for the Equal Rights Amendment, advocates supporting LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and members of the Congressional ERA Caucus speaking about Juneteenth.

The inaugural podcast includes ERA Coalition President and CEO, Zakiya Thomas, who said, “We are here to change the conversation. The launch of this podcast highlights a shift in the equality movement; we’re no longer being told our stories back to us, we’re telling them ourselves. And we’re lifting up the people and communities that are so often marginalized by misogyny, racism, classism, and bigotry in our society. We’re showcasing our movement of movements, representing millions, and advocating for equality for all people at all levels. And we won’t stop until we get there together.”

The program is also supported in part with Vox Pod studio and Coalition media partner, Women’s eNews, who is launching an ERA segment on their media hub to highlight Equality Talks stories and other Equal Voices content.

"Women's eNews, the only global women's news organization, is thrilled to collaborate with the ERA Coalition’s initiative, Equal Voices, a pioneering platform of content creators, to publish the narratives of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ women.” said Lori Sokol, PhD., Executive Director & Editor-in-Chief, Women's eNews. “Collaboration is one of the strongest ways to build our leadership in this movement, which is urgently needed to help correct the private and public policies that continue to undermine their potential in the U.S., including unequal pay and other gender-based restrictions in the labor force."

Equality Talks officially launches on Thursday, June 1 on www.ERACoalition.org and www.EqualVoice.org

###

The ERA Coalition was founded in 2014 to bring concerted, organized action to the effort to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA Coalition has a sister organization, the Fund for Women’s Equality, which promotes public education and outreach on the need for constitutional equality. Composed of more than 290 organizations across the country representing millions of people, the Coalition is a movement of movements focused on overall equality in the United States.

While the effort to amend the constitution to include sex equality began nearly a century ago, our renewed efforts are centered on women of color (African American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Latina, and Native American), gender-nonconforming and transgender women and girls, and nonbinary people – those who are most impacted by systemic inequities.
