April 20, 2021 - New York, NY – The ERA Coalition/Fund for Women’s Equality, standing for justice and equality for all, supports the outcome of the trial of Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd.

Though this guilty verdict will not bring back Mr. Floyd, we hope the jury’s decision brings some measure of closure and peace. Our hearts go out to Mr. Floyd’s friends, his family, and his community. We also grieve for the many other lives taken by police violence.

This is also just the beginning. To have justice we must also have the freedom to live a life free from the fear of being killed for the color of our skin. This comes not only from the courtroom, but from the work we all do together to make needed systemic change to our justice system and to our society.

We’re committed to doing this work and ensuring equality for all.
