The results are in, and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been declared the winners of a hard fought and and fractious run for the leadership of our country.

This is an incoming administration that has expressed support for the Equal Rights Amendment. We look forward to celebrating the adoption of the ERA to the Constitution in the near future--and thank you all for your great work for equality.

Here is the ERA Coalition/Fund for Women's Equality statement on the election, just released:

Equality was on the ballot – and it won.  In a historic win, after record-breaking voter participation in our democratic process, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can claim the Presidential election of 2020. Believers in justice and fairness powered that victory.

For the first time in history, the United States elected a woman Vice President. A Black woman Vice President. An Indian American Vice President. Our congratulations to Kamala Harris for breaking through that seemingly impenetrable glass wall--and kudos to the many millions of voters of this country, who supported and defended her candidacy, especially Black women.

We have in the Biden-Harris administration a team that has thought about equality, a team that clearly supports the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). First proposed nearly a century ago, the ERA simply states that one cannot be discriminated against based on one’s sex. Our Constitution does not prohibit discrimination based on sex.

Our work is clearly not done until the ERA is part of the Constitution. The ERA Coalition is requesting action in the first 100 days of the Biden-Harris Administration.

We are working with our membership organizations from Black, indigenous and communities of color in unratified states. Join us and support lived equality by signing this petition and donating $28. Your donation will support our advocacy and to ensure lived equality.

Here is the replay of our election debrief.

We will keep you posted on next steps. Still much work to be done.
