The "Ayes" have it! The House Judiciary Committee voted 21-11 to remove the time limit contained in the preamble of the 1972 Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).

It was thrilling to sit in the House Judiciary Committee Hearing Room today for Chairman Nadler's impassioned opening--and to hear so many strong and moving remarks on why we need the Equal Rights Amendment from Committee members. And then, a resounding vote of approval for removing the time limit. We hope you will watch the proceedings here. There are so many reasons to be proud of the work you've done, and the good wishes you've sent our way. The next step is a full floor vote in the House of Representatives. We hope that Speaker Nancy Pelosi will move forward swiftly: wouldn't that be a terrific way to end 2019?

Of course, it is still up to the Senate to pass their bipartisan bill S.J.Res.6 which is sponsored by Senators Cardin and Murkowski. We ask that you urge your senators to sign on.

Here are some photos from the day--we will have more to report on this very good news shortly.
